My cute doggie, to be exact. This is Jakie. He’s a ten-years-and-eight-months-old golden retriever who thinks he’s still a puppy. Despite the fact that his hips have gradually succumbed to arthritis, he loves hiking, swimming, and begging for bread. He’s very good at begging for bread because he knows who exactly in our family can’t resist him.

Jakie is exceptionally tolerant of my sister and me putting random junk on him. Like the blanket she made him for Christmas or my mom’s hat and sunglasses.

He also does the sad puppy face incredibly well. I know. I only learn from the best.

Regularly scheduled posting will resume…later.
That’s what the sidewalk told me to do on my way to class this morning.
I think you should, too.
(I’m in a really good mood because the sun is out and the chill is leaving and I can taste spring.)
Yaay! The New England Aquarium in Boston accepted me as a summer intern in their Animal Medical Center! Validation! I am not useless! Exclamation mark!
In all seriousness, I’m really excited to be spending summer at the NEA. The stuff they do is really interesting, and the aquarium itself is pretty cool. It’s tiny compared to the Monteray Bay Aquarium back home, but they have pengiuns, jellies, sea turtles, and tons of fish (obviously). Plus, I really wanted to spend one undergrad summer in Boston, and this is my last one (omg).
On a related note, I’m interviewing to be a summer RA for Next House tomorrow. MIT has an RAA (resident associate advisor) program during the school year which pairs an undergrad with a professor to advise a group of freshmen for their first semester. I’ve always wanted to be an RAA, but have never been able to make the time commitment. Summer RAs are slightly different because there’s no academic aspect, but it’s still an awesome opportunity.
Random: I love falafel. So. Much.
I’m more than slightly frightening that this blog is getting hits from people googling my name. This is scary for two reasons:
- I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned my full name in a post or comment.
- People are actually looking for me. (Um. Hi.)
Other interesting queries that have led wayward travelers here, in decreasing order of popularity:
- “how to pronounce bourguignon”
- “itasa 2010″
- “can pregnant women have cheez- its?”
- “i want to be anorexic”
- “how to shave your chest in a dorm shower”
…I don’t even know what to say to the last one.
They say that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but I think it holds pretty true for me, too. Nobody ever has to worry about me being anorexic because I simply love food too much. My eating habits are something like a pregnant woman’s–I’m constantly craving one thing or another. And I’m very prone to the powers of suggestion. For example, I walked by a Domino’s commercial on TV a few days ago and craved pizza. As in couldn’t stop thinking about it. And yesterday, I watched Lucky Number Sleven. Throughout the movie, Sleven kept eating sandwiches, and I was suddenly overcome with a compulsion to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Right now I am eating Andes Candies to satisfy one craving and feeling the absolute need to eat reduced fat Cheez-its. What the hell, brain.
- Last night, I played Portal at Bobby’s place. Now I can’t stop thinking about shooting portals in my walls or how nice it would be to have one in Next House and another one somewhere on campus.
- I love Omar’s cat, Bella. This xkcd comic has never been more true, except maybe with my Tabby.
- Steaming mugs of hot chocolate are good for the mind and soul, but only good for the body if lactose-free.
- It really sucks when you’re in the shower and you here a muffled thunk from the pipes above you, meaning someone else has also turned on a shower, meaning in a few seconds, your water is going to be freezing cold.
- The slopes in the northeast are so cute. As in it’s really cute what Wachusett and Nashoba Valley think are blues and blacks.
- Here, have some more cute.
- I love my friends more than words can describe. Yes, this includes you!
- The Christmas season is my favorite time of year. And look…it’s snowing on my blog! ^^
- Am toying around with the idea of re-highlighting my hair purple.
- …and/or finally getting a tattoo.
- I didn’t really learn anything in 9.01 this semester.
- Perhaps writing music isn’t as painful as I let myself think. I still prefer playing, though.
- Soft pants are wonderful.
- I’m thirsty.
